MAJOR:
To declare a major in Religious Studies, submit the Declaration of Major Form. As part of the Major declaration, you will be asked to choose which one of the concentrations in Religious Studies you intend to follow.
Please note that in order to declare the Major, you must have already completed at least one Religious Studies course with a grade of C or better.
Once you have submitted your declaration, you can expect an email response from us in 5 business days during the Fall and Spring semesters and within 10 business days at any other time.

Choosing an Advisor
Any full-time member of the Religious Studies faculty may serve as an advisor. Affiliate professors, emeritus professors, visiting scholars, and graduate students do not serve in this role. You are encouraged to select your own advisor, typically a professor with whom you have taken a course or otherwise have a prior relationship. If you have someone in mind, contact them directly and ask if they will serve as your advisor.
Once you have selected an advisor, please send the Director of Undergraduate Programs, Prof. Matt Hedstrom an email, copying your new advisor, to announce this arrangement. Prof. Hedstrom will add your advisor's name to your declaration.
If you are having trouble securing an advisor on your own, please email the Director of Undergraduate Programs, who will be happy to work with you to find a suitable faculty member to serve in this role. While you are not required to choose an advisor in the same area as your concentration within the major, you may find it beneficial to do so.

MINOR:
To declare the minor, use the Declare a Major or Minor form. Minors do not select a Religious Studies advisor or choose a concentration.
