The Patricia Hollingsworth Prizes in Ethics
The Institute for Practical Ethics and Public Life (IPE) announces the Patricia Hollingsworth Prizes in Ethics awarded for the best undergraduate essays in ethics.
First Place: $1,000 | Second Place: $750 | Honorable Mention: $350

Subject: Essays may address any applied or theoretical topic or issue in ethics, and may be historical, philosophical, theological, literary, etc. Revised class papers may be submitted—indicate the title of the course and the instructor for the course.
Length: 1,500-3,000 words (longer essays are acceptable) Awards will be presented at a ceremony in April, 2017
2017 Summer Ethics Internships
The Institute for Practical Ethics and Public Life (IPE) will support approximately 20 undergraduate Summer Ethics Internships in 2017 at amounts between $2,000 and $2,500. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, December 7.

Explore and experience Jewish history, culture, and everyday life in Europe from a multidisciplinary perspective in this three-week course taught by UVA Jewish Studies faculty.
New Study Abroad Course in Cuba
A new study abroad course in Cuba, RELA 4559, will examine religion, culture, history, and politics in revolutionary Cuba. “Afro-Cuban Religions” is scheduled for Summer Session I, May 22–June 10, 2017, and will be taught by Professor Jalane Schmidt.
