September 12, 2017
NOTE NEW LOCATION: Monroe 110

NOTE ROOM CHANGE: The lecture is now in Monroe 110.

Drawing on a book manuscript in progress, this paper develops case studies from Dambadeniya (Sri Lanka), Chiang Mai (Thailand), and Bago (Burma/Myanmar) to exemplify a "connected histories" approach to Indian Ocean Buddhism and to illustrate the centrality of trans-regional processes to polity formation in this Southern Asian arena during the early 2nd millennium.
